We are excited to be moving into the home stretch with Chapter 6 and I wanted to take the opportunity to thank all of the folks that are participating in testing and refining this massive chapter on the test centers. There is a lot going on with this update and we have been spending extra time with this on the TC's to get it right. These is little doubt that the feedback on this chapter has been the best we have ever had and I want to extend a special thanks to the TCPrime folks who make testing a large part of their total SWG playtime. We know it is not easy playing and testing with a moving target and you have shown great dedication to making this game better.

At this point our plan is to get Chapter 6 to live early next week. We like where we are in terms of features, balance, and stability and we will be mostly fixing outstanding bugs and do some minor tweaking this week as we move towards a release candidate. Today we will be archiving the current feedback threads in Dev Discussion and replacing them with fewer and more focused ones for the remaining time in test. These threads have been invaluable and we want to be sure to get as tight a focus as possible with the remaining areas we want to address before publish.

I know that many players have mixed feelings about some of the changes with Chapter 6. This is understandable and we are sensitive to those reservations, but I believe we have achieved the primary goals we wanted to hit. A solid and immersive Beast Master system, a great tool for player events and content with Story Teller, and a pass on NPC's and other mobs in the game to address the level of challenge in our content. I could have wished for perhaps more agreement on that level of challenge, but I am satisfied that we have made a better game, while not forgetting that we have many styles of players in SWG.

So please continue the testing and feedback as we move into our final week on test and for those patiently waiting for Chapter 6 on live, we are almost there!

Q: This combat change is HUGE, and deserves a LOT more *tweaking* then what will be possible in the week that is left. Stop treating your live servers as a HUGE TC. And this is from a player who plays on both type of server...

If anything, this combat change needs to be taken out of Chapter 6 (so you can push everything else) and it need to be tweaked while adding:

1) Bigger group sizes,
2) Rework XP gain for mobs/missions
3) Make Group XP viable

I know a DEV commented on the fact that these things will be looked at now that PvE will be more of a challenge, but these things go hand-in-hand, and deserved to be rolled out at the SAME time. Not roll out the one thing that will make people cry, and promise us the things that make it 'ok', later.

A: I guess we have a disagreement on how far we are on this , but we do feel we are pretty close at this point. We have tried and insured that although there is a definite increase in the PvE challenge with this Chapter, we do not feel that we have introduced such an increase in difficulty that our current max group size is not large enough to handle everything in the game. Our expectation is that the Heroic mob content we will be working on for C. 7 will introduce an entirely new class of mob and spawn that may require larger groups, so we are going to hold any changes in group size and group XP until that chapter. I do not however want to create the impression that this will be a huge change, meaning that I feel that the basic idea that a group of folks divide the XP they earn from a kill is valid. Eight guys killing a mob is much, much easier than one, so do not expect for us to make that level of change. I do have a goal to increase the amount of XP one gets when grouped with considerably higher level characters. I feel that making sure that mixed combat level groups are viable is important.

Q: Hmmm. Have care. Where I love the new BE/CH system, I have reservations about the mutation system. There has not been one single confirmed mutation on either test center. I'm not shouting sour grapes either.

The problem lies in the fact that "Mutation" has been hyped. "Mutation" is the "carrot", that is bringing folks back (happy for that). Last time we CH's were told it's in there, go find it........it was not there....and we could not find it (CH necklace...which is finally in game !!!). We are skeptical.

Just ensure that mutation is possible before you push this live....the backlash would ruin your best wrk since publish 24.

A: We have confirmed mutations on TC. Let me be clear here, mutation are rare and meant to be. As folks learn some of the color codes and their effect on mutation rates they will be a little more common, but getting a mutation is still a 'chance' and when it happens you will have a pretty special pet (or egg to sell).

Q: Hey DM, thanks for the update. I for one am looking forward to chap 6 going live. Now for chap 7, can we get more details on it? Like will the animation issue finally be respolved? How about a ture collision system, combat vehicles and the like.

A: We have a number of animation issues in the game, so I cannot be sure which one you are referring to. If you are talking about a complete revamp on anims, that will not be coming with C.7. As to a 3D collision system, we did look very hard at it, but I feel pretty confident in saying that we will *not* be making that change anytime soon. As a quickie outline of C.7 at this point, I would say the major features are:

- Heroic mobs and associated content
- Particle effect scaling controls
- Collections

We will be discussing this in more detail in the coming weeks. We will be spending a few weeks after 6 goes live to deal with some long standing bugs and issues in the live game before starting on C.7.

is the DWB intended to be totally broken
i mean come on now - the super battle droids are currently weaker than the normal battle droids
SBDs are CL87 elites with 18k health
battle droids are CL87 with 19k heatlh

A: I have not played it for a few days so i do not know its exact state. As I said above, it was not our intent to make a massive change in the difficulty of the current content. I know they toned down the pre-C.6 spawns a bit to better match the new NPC difficulty. They may not have exactly hit the mark on that yet.

One question, will the tweaks in the coming week address any of the perceived profession imbalances that have resulted from the Chapter 6 combat changes? I think spies and Jedi are very concerned about their viability in the new system.

A: I think 'perceived' is the key word here. We have a couple of more tweaks today for jedi. We are still looking at spy. There are tactic changes that need to be made with the new changes, but we think we are pretty close.

Q: How about the fact that Carbine animation has been broke since the NGE went live? I would hope this wouldnt take a entire publish to fix. If you want to put off melee animations, so be it, i havent seen default NGE melee animations in months so that doesnt bother me, but it would sure be nice to know if im actually firing my weapon while using a carbine.

And on the XP issue, yeah it would be nice to be able to help out our lower level friends without them seeing 86xp as their reward for killing things. There is a HUGE gap between the Legacy quests and when ROTW is a viable system to level in, 20+ levels, thats alot of grinding.

A: I sometime wake up screaming in a cold sweat...My wife is always concerned. "Is it Nam dear? You in the **edit** again?"...My eyes look through her into some distant storm she cannot perceive...."The Carbines" is all I can say.

The Carbine issue. Its actually not an 'animation' issue, but rather a particle issue. Please believe me I would fix this today if we could. We have looked at it a number of times and have come up empty. This issue is at the top of the list of things to fix before we move onto chapter 7. If it was a slam dunk we would have done it by now.

Traders need business. Encouraging people to loot "sets" of equipment means you are taking business away from Traders.


SW:G is supposed to be a "virtual world", not "EQ2 in space".

A: Nope...Its not sets. It is similar to the collection mechanics in EQ2.

Q: I know this is somewhat towards the bottom of the list...but what are the chances we can get a command to flip objects in a house? A: It has been mentioned before. I honestly do not know what it would take, but it would have to be a pretty minimal effort to make it on the list at this point in time given the other things we could be working on.

Does you guys have any intentions about doing something against those credit spammers/farmers.

I mean we know they are using trial accounts, so maybe you could do make some restrictions for the trial accounts. I mean like, not letting them leaving tansarii, or not letting them using www.whatevername.com, u know typing in websites, ormaybe notletting them making macros. Well just wanted to know if you are gonna do some more than you are doing now (the classic, log in, either spawn supermobsto kill them, or ban them, and then we will see them online again after 5-10 mins.)

Some that I am not using qustionsmarks, i just spilled some cola down in my new laptop keyboard, **edit** i hate myself, now questionmark, five, six, and plus button dont work. Man i onlyhave had this laptop for 2 weeks.

A: The problem is the free trial as many have surmised. Obviously we want to give as complete of a game experience as possible to folks trying out Star Wars. The offshoot of that is that we have a ton of credit farmers out there. I am hoping we can get agreement among the various interested parties that we need to trim back on what a trial account can do. I have no timeline I can give on that.

A: I suspect that a lot of people will require groups to be successful if they have not developed the skills necessary, I am just saying that I have seen many of these "unsoloable" mobs get solo'd. It will certainly no longer be a walk in the park. But I do not think we are at the point of 'needing' 20 person groups.

Q: Deadmeat - what happened to the PA / Guild changes that Smed requested, a couple of months ago (ie the ability to invite members from anywhere in the galaxy).

A: Our plan is to create a a guild object that folks can have in their inventory. It should allow you to access most of the functionality of the guild hall. My hope is that we can get this in between C.6 and C.7.

A: It is a very thin line we are trying to walk here, and I honestly think we have hit the right note of compromise in terms of "challenge" and "complete game changing and vitriol producing combat revamp". We have the opportunity with the fixes and enhancement we have made in C.6 to allow for really challenging, group oriented, high end content planned for Heroic Mobs in C.7. I think most would agree that simply making the current game harder is not really particularly fun. While I might repeat 11th grade if I knew that women would be 3 time more easy to date, it would be a different story if the change was that I would be 6 inches shorter than I was the first time through.

Q: DeadMeat, Why haven't you said anything about people worried about the amount of resources needed for the things used in the Beast Mastery System? There is a very large thread on the BM Forums that I don't believe any red name has said anything on. And still nothing yet inside here. Also, people are still saying that the current leveling of pets is still far too long of a grind for what it is.

A: I guess in this matter I tend to agree with Blix. There are huge amounts of resources held in live and we have set requirements at what we think are reasonable. Will everyone have the necessary resources to play the complete incubation mini-game? Nope. Some folks will need to buy eggs to have pets. I think the numbers are reasonable to ensure that this is a fun, and rewarding, player activity.

We target between 15 - 30 hours to power level a pet. With the vitamin supplements and the 500-700% increase in xp gain they give, I think we are right in that range. Obviously leveling in a group is also faster since the minimum xp gain in the group will work well on all pets. If we did not hit that goal then we will tweak further, but I believe that leveling pets should be much easier now.

Q: While I totally agree. You do realise that the people who want to enjoy this as a fun activity most likely won't due to them never being resource hoarders like some are. No relatively new player will have the money to buy an egg or the resources. Is this game turning into something that will continue to cater to the greedy and hoarding folks like almost everything else does? I've been around since the start, but have never hoarded things and am always giving things away to friends. I do have money, but not a large amount. The folks who do have these large amounts of resources set back are your greedy veterans with one or two toons already capped on credits and only see other players as yet another source to cap out yet another toon. Isn't there something else better you could come up with to cut down the resources hoarded by players other than them getting tons of cash for them in return? Whether it be selling it for 100cpu+ or making stuff and putting a 100cpu+ pricetag on it isn't resolving any problems for anyone but your database. =|

A: Any sort of automated resource reduction would not work. If people play the game, get their resources and money in legitimate ways, I do not intend on taking it away. MMO economies are a 'tricky' thing. While I understand your sentiment here, I do not see us attempting any kind of devaluation of the economy....ever.

Chapter 6 Update

I wanted to drop a quick announcement to the community about the status of Chapter 6 going to live. We will be publishing an update to the test centers early tomorrow with some final changes (the reversion of the dreaded self-heal changes and other tweaks) and if it all checks out, this is the version that will go live. We are excited about this chapter and anxious to get this into the hands of the broader player base, but not until we feel we have hit our goals. I think we are there, but only by getting it to the TC's and allowing QA to regress all the systems will we be sure. If all goes well we are still on track for release this week.

I know that not everyone will feel that all of their individual issues have been addressed, but I do not think any game can achieve that level of agreement. What we do hope is that everyone sees this chapter as a great addition to the game and that all types of players will find something new and appealing to do in the game. I appreciate your patience in this process, and I urge the testing community to really beat on this version to make sure we have a solid update to SWG.

Folks,

We have been pushing hard to resolve all Chapter 6 issues by today in order to release the chapter to live tomorrow, but unfortunately we have had a couple of late bugs reported that we feel are important enough to address before going live that we have decided not to push the release tomorrow. Though these issues are not massive, they represent a level of polish and robustness that we really want to hit with this publish, so as difficult as it is to go back on my earlier statement about C6 going live this week, we will hold it until next week. Unless it is a extreme emergency, all chapter publishes and hotfixes are deployed during the normal maintenance windows on Tuesday and Thursday so our next opportunity for release is next Tuesday the 22nd.

I honestly wish I could put this out there now because this is one hell of a chapter, but I just do not see the point in not making this as clean of a release as possible. Feel free to call me out on this (I suspect my bosses will), it was a hard choice, but the right one.

vzduch se chvěl vždycky, nemáš spíše nějak jinak nastavenou grafárnu? Nebo vylepšili podporu u nějakých grafáren takže ti to tvá taky nyní zobrazuje.

Problem meli nektere GF7xxx a vyse. Misto lavy to ukazovalo velke ruzne cervene ctverce. Da se sosnout lava mod, ktery tento problem resi a lava vypada jako ziva.

Amount of items in a house is something I want to address in an upcoming chapter. 3/4 of my house is decoration leaving me no room for functional items/resources etc. We will coming up with something good to fix the issue.

Chapter 6: TC Publish Notes Update (18.05.2007)

Beast Master:

• Restricted use of the Enzyme Extractor, Enzyme Centrifuge, Element Processor and Enzyme Re-Processor to Beast Masters.
• Lowered loot drop rates of Isomerases enzymes

Mount/Vehicles:

• Allow dismounting in combat through the hotbar. Fixed an issue with missing radials on vehicles.

Treasure Maps:

• Treasure map (non-elite) enemies have had a combat level adjustment. Treasure enemies scale better according to the group level, with a random possibility of giving the advantage to mid/large groups.
