Chapter 6: Datapad Limits For Control Devices

Combat pets:

Droids, legacy pets, beasts, and officer pets are the same type called "combat pets".

The maximum for combat pets in your datapad for creating new control devices will be twelve.

Rideable control devices:

Mounts and vehicles count as "rideable" control devices.

The maximum for rideable control devices for creating new control devices will be ten.

Q:If I am reading this correctly that means we will have a total of 22 slots in our datapad. Thats good stuff right there. Is lag going to be accepted as feedback? Opening a full datapad my require me to inject heroin right into my cpu.

A: Once you open it the first time after you start your client, it loads all the models and textures. After that, it should be faster to open (during that session). So, the lag is really client side and not server side.

Q: Does vehicals include starships?

A: No, starships are not included in this change.

Q: Are you overseeing all aspects of BM Hanse? A yes would make me feel a little more comfortable.

A: I'm not overseeing all aspects. I'm was assigned initial creation of beasts, storage, and modification stuff. I also had a lot of legacy pet functionality to keep an eye on and modify.

Q: OK then Hanse, can you give some idea as to why mounts work the way they do now? A lot of us enjoyed having them following us around.

A: Your beast is now your following friend (minus the saddle). I believe that's the reasoning. I think we originally were going to allow beasts and mounts, but later changed it so that you can't due to other issues (movement speed).

Q: I completely forgot about that fact. I have a harvester droid, so that's just one more creature from the 22 that I have kept in my datapad since the NGE hit I have to get rid of.Chapter 6 just keeps getting worse and worse, at least for me as a Elder MCH.

A: The limit was 12 maximum, of all the types I mentioned before. I highly doubt you have the limit, though. You would have to have 3 officer pets stored, too. All non-officers should have less than 12 combat type pets stored, at this point. That is unless there's some other legacy system prior to the last pet system (before beasts).

Q: SMILEY:cry: But the only house pets in the game there will be after pub 6 will be the legacy Bio Engineer ones - no way for new people get new ones without spending a bigillion trillion credits. SMILEY:cry: Pleab... pleab, I beg you to ask... /wimper

A: Holopets?

Q: All due respect here but setting the number of "combat pets" to twelve is a cut back from the old CH system and not an increase. As a former CH I have a total of sixteen "combat pets" currently in my datapad, five droids, four more ride-able ones (two are rewarded ones and may not count to the total), six vehicles, and just for throwing it in an old Spec Forces Wilderness Operative.

I know your working, and other than worried that my speeders/mounts already are 2 over your maximum I am not even slightly upset. But This is actually a decrease and not an increase over the old system, just so you know.

oh and one more thing, the term "Legacy pets", is this term being used to cover all pre nge/ pre BM-chap pets or are there pets from the legacy quest that I missed along the way?

A: I see. Well, we're increasing from the current limits of combat pets to a total of 12. I'm not sure how many beasts/droids folks will use in the new system, but I am very sure the vast majority will not want to exceed that amount. Keep in mind, mounts and vehicles are limited to 10 and not subtracted from combat pets.

The total of combat pets and mounts/vehicles you can have in your datapad is 22.

Q: Some of us still have the old faction pets, of which one could have 3. I personally have a Rebel Wilderness Specialist or something to that effect. How do these factor in?

A: I'll have to get information on that. Thanks!

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/posts/list.m?start=75&topic_id=317538#3547675

Q: Forgive me I do not see the increase.

I currently have 23 Data, personal companion devices in Data pad. (pets) of which the CL65 Varactyl, Kartha's cliff jumper, and a kaadu are trained as mounts. I currently have 6 Data, Vehicle control devices and 7 Data, Droid Control Devices. So I already exceed the allowed amount. I see no increase. Droid control devices happen to include ship memory devices currently.

So from 36 I will have to drop down to 22. Please help me understand where the increase is.

A: The increase, I mentioned, is over any current system implemented. I won't argue over what was available over the lifetime of SWG, of course. SMILEY:)

How was the balance of the prior systems? You may have heard (or shook) to something previously?

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/posts/list.m?start=90&topic_id=317538#3550998

Q: I skimmed through this, and I didn't see an answer to this question:

What happens if I have more than 10 rideable devices in my datapad? Currently, I have six vehicles and seven mounts. Most of the stuff is legacy and reward type stuff. Will some of these be randomly destroyed? Will I have to make a choice on login? Can I convert some of the mounts into the stuffed version or a DNA strand to compensate? I'd rather not get rid of any of my vehicles and mounts, but if I must, I certainly can.

A: You don't have to destroy any of your mounts/vehicles. If you're over the limit, you cannot create any more. You can use all of them without penalty, though.

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/posts/list.m?start=90&topic_id=317538#3551036

Q: Actually, a mount, as opposed to a vehicle, cannot be destroyed.. You can always revive it as I understand.

A: You can destroy a mount's control device in your datapad to make more room. If it is dead, it just revives automatically, when you call it the next time.

Thanks!

Q: Hi HanseSOE,

This feature of destroy a mount seems new or actually I never discovered it. So, if it is destroyed where does the mount go? I remember in my early Master CH days when I destroyd a pet - be it a mount or not - it was released to the wild. So, in CH 6 does the mount become a deed in inventory? If not how do you recall the mount and where does it go when it is destroyed? Especially, reward type pets.

Thanks in Advance

A: If you destroy your mount's control device, it is gone. It does not get released into the wild.

Q: HanseSOE,

I know this probably isn't in your line of work, but would it be possible to implement a code that will allow us to re-deed our current vehicles, or even pets? I have a few pets left over from my CH days, but I will not be able to enjoy these mutations that you all have implemented. I do NOT want to delete any of my pets, as they have memoric value. Could you please find out if this is acceptable? I know one other person has brought this option up, but no red-name replied. Could we please get information on this? Thanks!

A: The options are: Delete the control device, stuff the pet for display, or change it into DNA. Deeding a pet is not being added, as we allow that pet to be stuffed for display.

As someone else pointed out, you have old pets that are useless and will not work with the new beast system. While we know they have sentimental value, you can grow that old pet through DNA within the beast system. The beast system is the new creature handler system, as the creature handler system is not being re-introduced.

Eventually, the legacy pet system will be removed (not this publish). I do not know what will happen to legacy datapad items, at that point.

I do not know if we are adding vehicle/droid re-"deed"ing in this publish.
